Shared Defence Law Firm Confirmed; Recusal Application Scheduled

At a Court of Queen's Bench hearing on December 4, 2014, it was confirmed that Justice E.C. Wilson's personal legal counsel in unrelated matters, Peacock Linder & Halt, is the same law firm that represents the defendants in this matter, Megan McMahon, Taryn Burnett and Gowlings.

This shared defence counsel between the defendants and the judge assigned to case manage this same lawsuit raises significant conflict of interest issues, including predisposal of the judge to decide in his personal legal counsel's favour, and bias issues beyond those previously raised.

The plaintiff's application for removal of the judge from this case on these grounds has been scheduled to be heard in February 2015.
